Submitting stories
Survcast.com is a place where users discover and share news from around the web, and measure public opinion using our unique survey features learn more. You can submit any news article, blog post, video, or image to Survcast - it’s simple! To begin:
Locate and copy URL
In your browser locate the URL of the story that you wish to submit. Select and
copy the entire URL. It looks like this:
Input URL
On Survcast, click the “Submit new story” button located at the top of each page. Paste the URL from the source website into the box labeled “URL”. Do not edit the URL.
Add/edit story title
Then copy the title of the source story and paste it into Survcast. You can edit the title. See the example below.
Add/edit description
Copy a description paragraph from the source story and paste it into Survcast. The first paragraph is typically best. Then edit the paragraph to fit within our character limitation and to format it correctly. See example below.
Edited Description
Please edit your description paragraph by removing spaces, and to fit within our character limitation. The formating should look like the example below.
Description preview confirmation
The description preview should look like the example below (displayed as one paragraph). Make sure that you select the description approval checkbox.
Enter tags
Add your tags into Survcast to help other users find your post. Tags are optional. Then select a media type, which is required.
Helpful tip for entering tags
To get some ideas as to how to write relevant tags return to the source story and review the existing tags for that article.
Select Topic Category
Select a category that relates as closely as possible to your story, then click NEXT to proceed the submit survey page.

Confirm URL link and description
At the top of the submit survey page, you can click the story title highlighted in blue to make sure that it links to the source story properly. Clicking “edit” will return you to the story submission page to make changes. See example below.
Survey title
Every survey requires a title. This helps engage users to take your survey. You can be creative, or copy the story title. Most users will edit the story title with their own spin.
Creating survey questions
Simply ask questions that you would like answers to in relation to the associated
story. Currently we only support free form entry, please do not post any profanity.
First you enter your questions for example, Do you have a Facebook profile? in relation
to an article about Facebook.
Then you choose the type of question. At this time we only support radio button
answers, which allow no more than one selection, or check box answers, which allow
multiple selected answers:
Creating survey answer choices
Once your question and answer type is set then begin entering answer choices. Here you can enter free form answers, or select from the “pre-defined answer choices” using the drop down list. When you add an answer it will appear in the display box below
Remove and clear answer choices
Describe radio button and check-box options - see examples below.
Question Drag and drop feature
To change the order of your questions; while mousing over the QA space of the question you wish to move locate the green logo next to the words “Drag n’ drop.” Click and hold the green logo and move your question up, or down the list with your mouse.
Preview description
The next step after entering your survey is the preview. To return to the submit story page click the edit story button at the top of the page. To return to the submit survey page click the back button at the bottom of the page. Note: do not click the browser back button this action might clear your survey form.
